When you make a blood donation, you join a very select group. Only 38% of Americans are eligible to donate, and of those, only 8% actually donate. That means only about 3 out of every 100 people give blood. 
 
Every day, patients depend on generous donors. One in 10 people entering a hospital needs blood. Your donation can make the difference between an adequate blood supply and a shortage.
